MEMBER for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall is encouraging local sporting clubs from across the region to apply for funding from the State Government’s Local Sport Grant Program, which is now open.
Mr Marshall said the program aimed to increase regular and on-going participation in sport and active recreation, especially with community sport set to resume soon.
“Sport is incredibly important for health and wellbeing and in country NSW it also plays a role in bringing people in the community together for social occasions,” Mr Marshall said.
“Whether it be funding towards training programs to secure more volunteer coaches or helping with that much-needed change room or amenities block upgrade, these grants are designed to encourage more people to stay active.”
Mr Marshall said there were four project types within the program this year, each with its own funding application limit:
- Sport club development (maximum of $2,000 per club);
- Community sport events ($5,000);
- Sport access ($5,000); and
- Facility development and capital equipment ($20,000).
“As I travel around the region, I know there are many sporting clubs which are looking forward to resuming their activities soon and have projects that could benefit greatly from this funding,” Mr Marshall said.
“I urge all sporting clubs to have a close look at this program and lodge an application.”
Under the program, there is $50,000 available for clubs and projects across the Northern Tablelands electorate.
Applications are now open and close at 1pm Friday, 19 November 2021.
