THE wider community will finally get its chance to inspect the state-of-the-art $121 million Armidale Secondary College campus, with Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall today announcing an open day is scheduled for Saturday, 8 May 2021.
Mr Marshall is inviting all interested members of the public to take up this opportunity and said it was important locals were given the opportunity to inspect the end product of half-a-decade’s worth of hard work and planning.
“Sadly, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the general public was not able to join in the celebration of the commissioning of Armidale Secondary College at the start of the school year,” Mr Marshall said.
“Ultimately this is a community asset and with COVID-19 restrictions now eased it’s time to throw the doors open to the families whose lives will be changed by this development.
“As part of the open day, community members will be provided with a map to guide them on a path through the open plan classrooms and around the spectacular main quadrangle.
“Former Armidale High School students will walk down memory lane as they tour the refurbished original school building, which now houses an incredible performing arts space downstairs and visual arts wet area upstairs.
“Students and teachers will be stationed throughout the grounds to help direct visitors and provide answers to their questions.
“So many in the community have an interest in the construction of Armidale Secondary College and I’m delighted they are now going to be able to see for themselves what has been delivered.
“I hope everybody leaves feeling the future of public education in Armidale is strong and ready to cater for the diverse needs of all students.”
The open day will take place between 10am and 2pm. Parking is available in Butler Street and the DEN carpark (Gate 3). Limited disabled parking is available in the main visitor’s carpark (Gate 1).
COVID-19 restrictions apply and visitors will be required to check in on arrival and maintain social distancing.
The event will proceed regardless of weather conditions.
